A long time music obsessive, Ben Pearce’s youth was mainly spent in indie bands, dirty clubs and Manchester’s finest record stores. Proudly bearing the hallmarks of his past, Ben’s skin reads like a tapestry of far-flung influences, artistic preferences and unmissbale sense of humour. Fitting no predefining mould and taking cues from metal, electro, disco, house and techno has given Ben a very unique sonic signature. From the laid-back field recordings of Pale Ale on Moda Black to his inadvertent crossover hit ‘What I Might Do’ to his disco-lead Sextape mix series; Ben’s broad brush strokes make him a especially interesting artist. Named as DJ Mag’s Breakthrough DJ of the Year in 2012, Ben has gone on to achieve global success via worldwide tours, a summer residency at ANT’s in Ibiza, remixes for rising bands such as IYES, collaborations with Shadow Child and Citizenn, countless festival showcases and the continuing success of his Purp & Soul imprint and monthly Rinse FM show.
